Creating a Five Grade Essay Sample

Creating a Five Grade Essay SampleFifth grade essay samples can come in all different formats, ranging from the pedantic to the downright silly. Although they are often helpful in teaching students how to write essays, they can also be very frustrating for teachers and parents who don't know how to handle them. Here are some tips for dealing with them.First, students need to realize that these things are there to help them. You can encourage them to turn it into a 'why?' activity or you can teach them to use them as examples of material that would have been excluded from their essay, but they may not understand the whole point of the exercise.Second, they need to understand that they will likely get hit by the writing muse. This is natural and expected, and does not mean that they are not doing the right thing. In fact, sometimes it is a good thing to get the juices flowing. When kids are not feeling their best, their works might be hit by the same urge that drives their good works, so they need to relax and trust in their writing instincts.Third, they need to know that they must set the tone for the proper paper they are working on. They do not need to let their composition speak for them, nor should they be able to dictate what the template should be. Just remember that it is their work and they should be allowed to write whatever they want.Fourth, they need to understand that they are in control of the format. If they feel they need to follow instructions, it's up to them. In fact, even when they do feel that way, they still need to read the directions first before moving on. That way, they can see that they are following the guidelines without being led.Fifth, and perhaps most importantly, students need to understand that they need to use the essays as learning tools in a formal setting. Remember that this is a chance for them to learn about composition and why essays are effective. They should not have to work hard just to write an essay. If they try to fo rce it or let their imaginations take over, it may have a negative effect on the grade. So what do they need to remember about their fifth grade essay samples? Basically, that they need to understand that they do not have to follow them exactly because their writing skills may be atypical, or that they can use the papers for purposes outside of the school. If they are not encouraged to develop their own style, they are likely to get lost in the writing and not realize their true value. The bottom line is that they need to adhere to the school's guidelines, but if they are given something that is beyond their scope of abilities, they should make sure that they are aware of this. Also, they need to know that they can develop their own style, and allow their creativity to take hold.
